Auburndale boys basketball rolls to road win at Athens

ATHENS – The Auburndale boys basketball team extended its winning streak to six straight with a 62-32 win over Athens in a Marawood Conference crossover game Thursday at Athens High School.

The Eagles turned a seven-point halftime lead into a blowout win as they held Athens to just 11 points in the second half.

Evan Scholl had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead four Auburndale players in double figures. Caden Weinfurter added 12 points, and Thomas Aue and Kaden Anderson both scored 10 in the win for the Eagles (16-2, 11-1 Marawood South).

Andy Schaer led Athens (7-12, 3-9 Marawood North) with eight points as the Bluejays made just 11 field goals in the loss.

Auburndale hosts Crandon for a nonconference game Friday starting at 6 p.m.
