NEILLSVILLE – The Neillsville girls basketball team continued its perfect start to the season, jumping on Marshfield Columbus Catholic early and rolling to a 55-19 win on Tuesday night in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Neillsville High School.
Neillsville jumped out to a 19-3 lead after the first quarter and a 38-13 advantage by halftime on its way to its ninth straight win to start the season. The Warriors also improve to 6-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Columbus falls to 3-7, 2-5 in conference play.
Freshman Jenny Lindner led the way for the Warriors with 15 points. Corina Craig added nine as nine different Neillsville players scored.
Columbus made just seven field goals, only two in the second half, and missed 10 of its 13 free-throw attempts in the loss. Abby Gotz scored six points for the Dons.
Columbus is off until Jan. 20 when it plays at Loyal.
