MERRILL – The Marshfield boys basketball team put the finishing touches on its third-straight Wisconsin Valley Conference title with a 65-40 win over Merrill in its regular-season finale Thursday at Merrill High School.
Brant Freis made four 3-pointers and scored 14 points, and Landon Lee added three long balls and 13 points, also while dishing out 10 assists, in the win for the Tigers, who finish the regular season at 22-2 overall and 12-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Ethan Knecht added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Valin Ramberg chipped in nine points as well for Marshfield.
Carter Baade had eight points to lead Merrill (7-17, 0-12 WVC).
Marshfield, the No. 1 seed in the Division 1 Sectional 1 bracket, will have a week off before hosting the winner of Tuesday’s game between Chippewa Falls and Wisconsin Rapids next Friday, March 1.
