CHIPPEWA FALLS – Marshfield’s Solenne Lonsdale placed third in the uneven bars to earn a trip to next week’s state tournament during competition at a WIAA Division 1 gymnastics sectional on Saturday at Chippewa Falls High School.
Lonsdale finished third in the bars with a score of 8.75 and moves on to the 2024 WIAA State Gymnastics Championships, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
The top five individuals in each event and the all-around will compete in the individual state meet on Saturday, while the top two teams take part in the team state meet on Friday.
Marshfield just missed out as a team, finishing fourth with a score of 135.775, 2/10th of a point behind second place Hudson (135.975). Eau Claire Memorial/North was third at 135.85. Chippewa Falls/McDonell ran away with the team title with an impressive score of 143.075.
Abigail Pietsch and Alyvia Dietsche combined for five top-10 finishes as well for the Tigers. Pietsch was seventh in the vault (8.95), sixth in the floor exercise (9.2) and 10th in the uneven bars (8.525), while Dietsche placed eighth in the vault (8.8) and ninth in the floor (9.1).
