MARATHON – The Stratford boys basketball team’s season came to an end as No. 1 seed Marathon proved to be too much, downing the Tigers 68-41 in a WIAA Division 4 regional final Saturday night at Marathon High School.
The Raiders (25-1) rolled out to a 35-14 lead by halftime and were able to maintain their big lead the rest of the way to advance to a D-4 sectional semifinal against another Marawood Conference South rival Auburndale (22-4) on Thursday at Merrill High School.
Stratford was held to 28 percent shooting (12-for-43) overall and were just 8-for-28 from 3-point range in the loss, finishing its impressive season with a 20-6 record.
Henry Zaleski scored 17 points to pace the Tigers. Marathon statistics were not provided.
