Neillsville sends Spencer boys basketball team to third loss in a row

SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team dropped its third straight game Thursday night, losing to Neillsville 45-40 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Spencer High School.

Steven Gilboy had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Rockets, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games and fall to 3-7 overall and 3-6 in the Cloverbelt East.

Neillsville won its third straight game to improve to 5-6 and 5-4 in conference play.

Danny Opelt led the Warriors with 14 points and Tyler Ehlen had 13 points and seven rebounds in the win.

Spencer plays at Gilman on Tuesday.
