MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus used a 12-2 run in the second quarter to open up a big lead and went on to beat Greenwood 64-41 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
The win keeps Columbus at the top of the conference, pushing its record to 9-3 overall and 8-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Greenwood falls to 6-4, 6-3 in the conference.
Columbus led 20-13 after the first quarter before using its strong second-quarter run to open up a 32-15 lead at the break.
Travis Pischel had 11 of his game-high 15 points in the first half and Tyler Derfus scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half as the Dons used a balanced scoring attack to grab the win. Eight different Columbus players scored in the victory.
Joshua Harlander had 14 points to lead the Indians.
Columbus hosts Loyal on Tuesday.
