WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Auburndale baseball team opened its Marawood Conference South Division schedule with a pair of dominating wins as it swept a doubleheader over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 8-2 and 21-2 at Lincoln High School on Tuesday.
Blake Raab picked up the win in Game 1, striking out eight in six innings of work. He also added a double and had two RBI, Caden Weinfurter had a triple and knocked in two, and Peyton Weinfurter had two hits and scored twice in the win.
The Eagles (3-0 overall) scored all of their runs in the first three innings of the nightcap, including 13 in the second, to build a big lead.
Peyton Weinfurter smacked a home run, and Nathan Richardson picked up the pitching win with seven strikeouts in four innings and also drove in six runs for Auburndale.
Aden Cherney chipped in three hits and scored four times in the second game for the Eagles.
Auburndale will have the rest of the week off before hosting Spencer for a nonconference game Monday at 4 p.m.
