MARSHFIELD – Katie Ruf and Kelsey Bremness combined on a three-hit shutout as Chippewa Falls McDonell blanked Marshfield Columbus Catholic 7-0 in a nonconference softball game Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
Ruf struck out six in five innings and Bremness had three strikeouts in two innings of relief to finish off the win for McDonell (3-0).
Columbus Catholic was held to three singles coming from Sam Casperson, Shelby Spata and Rhya Dieringer in the loss. The Dons are now 2-2 this season.
Columbus Catholic will play its Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener at Neillsville on Friday at 5 p.m.
