STRATFORD – Carly Pankratz and Tria Tubbs both had a pair of hits as the Stratford softball team powered past Marathon 10-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday at Hilgemann Field.
Stratford scored twice in the second inning and blew the game open in the sixth with six runs as it improves to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Marawood South.
The win for the Tigers forges a four-way tie for the conference lead with Auburndale, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption and Marathon at 2-1.
Laney Pankratz picked up the pitching win as she struck out seven for the Tigers. She also scored a pair of runs.
Carly Pankratz had three runs scored and Tubbs finished with two RBI for Stratford.
Danica Paszek hit a solo home run for Marathon (4-3, 2-1 Marawood South)
The two teams play again Tuesday at Marathon starting at 4:45 p.m.
