AUGUSTA – The Columbus Catholic track team won two events at the Augusta Track & Field Invitational on Thursday at Augusta High School.
Nathan Scheer won the boys 3,200 meters in 11:19.45 and Columbus Catholic’s girls 1,600 relay team was first in 4:50.60 to provide the Dons with two victories.
The Columbus boys had six other top-three finishes, led by Dakota Hannasch, who took second in the 110 hurdles (20.91) and third in the 300 hurdles (48.69).
The boys 1,600 relay team placed second in 4:02.14, Lucky Laessig finished second in the discus (117 feet, 6 inches), Seth Roewe took third in the pole vault (10-4) and Davis Vinnedge was third in the 110 hurdles (22.66).
On the girls side, Aubrey Waldhauer was runner-up in the high jump (4-6) and pole vault (8-0), Jenny Schneider placed second in the 1,600 (6:22.47), Jaylee Garneau was third in the 1,600 (6:27.97), and the 800 relay team was third in 2:01.40.
Columbus Catholic will participate in the Gilman Invitational on Tuesday.
