MARSHFIELD – For the second day in a row, the Marshfield softball team played a doubleheader and for the second day in a row, the Tigers won both ends.
Marshfield earned a 6-5 walk-off win in the opener and followed that up with a 16-7 rout in Game 2, improving to 9-7 this season.
In Game 1, Delaney Varsho led off the bottom of the seventh with a double, moved to third on a bunt by Ashlyn Barwick and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Shylah Brogan to give Marshfield the win.
Varsho and Lillian Griesbach each had two hits, and Arianna Pugh knocked in two runs for Marshfield.
In the nightcap, both teams scored in each of its five at-bats, with Marshfield pouring it on with 13 hits and 10 walks to pull away. The game ended after five innings due to rain.
Barwick and Borgan each had three hits and scored three runs, with Brogan and Pugh driving in three runs apiece for the Tigers.
Katelyn Sternweis earned the win in both games for the Tigers.
Marshfield will travel to Wausau West for a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Monday at 5 p.m.
