AUBURNDALE – Stratford had four athletes win three events each as the Tigers swept the team titles at the Auburndale Track & Field Invitational on Saturday at Auburndale High School.
Stratford won seven events to take the girls team title with 182 points, with Auburndale placing third with 128.
The Stratford boys were first with 215 points as it won nine events. Auburndale placed fourth among the five teams with 107 points.
Brianna Sherden was a triple-winner for the Stratford girls as she placed first in the long jump (16 feet, 4½ inches) and the 100 meters in 12.74 seconds, while also being part of the 400 relay team – along with Sadie Weigel, Dawnyel Martin and Hailey Fecker – which won in 54.78 seconds.
Emily Rundle won the triple jump (32-9), Peyton Drexler was first in the shot put (28-10), Kayla Casperson won the 1,600 (5:53.16), and the 3,200 relay team of Breleigh Skaya, Jaela Jochimsen, Lily Dabbert and Kaylie McHugh won in 11:19.48 as well for the Stratford girls.
Jett Schoenherr set a new school record in the 100 meters for the Stratford boys, finishing in 10.03 seconds. He also was part of the winning 400 and 800 relay teams along with Payton Glenn, Zander Zawislan and Coltan Breit.
Glenn also won the long jump (21-4), Brandon Knetter placed first in the triple jump (40-10), Koehler Kilty won the shot put (49-4), and Cree DeFoe was first in both the 1,600 (4:52.66) and 800 (2:09.49) for the Stratford boys.
Zawislan, Xander Curtice, Kaden Foster and Garrett Zuelke picked up a win in the 1,600 relay in 3:49.14 as well for the Tigers.
Auburndale’s Rose Hasenohrl was a triple-winner as she won the girls 400 (1:03.52) and 800 (2:38.50), and along with Alana Steines, Gracie Hasenohrl and Alivia Wolf won the 1,600 relay (4:31.59).
Abby Becker added a win in the discus (82-4) for the Eagles.
The Auburndale boys picked up four victories – Logan Nagel in the discus (136-5), Keegan Empey in the 400 (55.65), Trevor Trowbridge in the 300 hurdles (44.20) and the 3,200 relay team of James Binder, Brody Braunsky, Sawyer Cherney and Trevin Seevers (9:36.51).
Auburndale will be among the teams competing at the Stratford Invitational on Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
