MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids jumped on Marshfield early with five runs in the first four innings and finished off a 5-3 win in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Tuesday at Safford Field.
An error, an RBI single by Owen Griesbach and a bases-loaded walk to Branden Anderson led to a three-run sixth inning for the Tigers, but they were not able to scratch any more across and dropped their sixth game in a row, falling to 2-9 overall and 2-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Brett Simonsen finished with two RBI for Wisconsin Rapids (10-4, 3-2 WVC).
The two teams will play again Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School starting at 5 p.m.
