Marshfield wins three individual titles, finish second at Freedom Wrestling Invitational

FREEDOM – Torin Boernke, Josh Shupe and Brad Dolezal won individual titles, leading the Marshfield wrestling team to a second-place finish at the Freedom Invitational on Saturday at Freedom High School.

Boernke bounced back from suffering his first loss of the season Thursday in Wisconsin Rapids with a title at 140 pounds. Boernke beat Bolivar Guillen of Bay Port with a pin in 3:49 to win the 140-pound title match.

Shupe followed with a 4-3 win over Josh Barnett of Oshkosh West in the 145-pound championship match.

Finally, Dolezal remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-2 win over Kegan Gennrich of Hortonville to take the 160-pound championship.

Justin Sternweis took second at 171 for Marshfield, falling 11-5 to Nick Lecher of Hortonville in the championship match.

Other medalists for the Tigers included Toran Nieman, who was third at 112 pounds, Daniel Barton, who took fourth at 135, and Tyler Manthe (119) and Ben Wartella (215), who each finished sixth.

Marshfield wrestles at Stevens Point on Thursday.
