MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team dominated Gilman in both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds, taking control of the outright lead in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division in the process.
Columbus Catholic won 16-1 and 11-0 as Gilman had just one hit in the two games.
The Dons are now 10-3 overall and remain perfect at 7-0 in the Cloverbelt East, opening up a two-game lead over Gilman (5-6, 5-2 Cloverbelt East).
Akosua Yeboah struck out eight and allowed just one hit to win the opener, which ended in four innings due to the 15-run rule.
Yeboah and Abby Wojcik combined on a five-inning no-hitter in the second game for the Dons.
Mattea Schlafke and Kylee Lingford both had two RBI in the Game 1 victory, while Shelby Spata had a triple, a home run and drove in three runs in the second game. Yeboah also added three RBI in the nightcap for Columbus.
Columbus Catholic will host Spencer for another Cloverbelt East doubleheader on Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds beginning at 4 p.m.
