WAUSAU – Taylor Varsho had 31 points, eight rebounds and seven steals to lead the Marshfield girls basketball team to a 55-33 rout of Wausau East in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Friday night at Wausau East High School.
Varsho hit 11 of 19 field goals and 8 of 10 free throws for the Tigers, who improved to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the WVC with the victory. East falls to 2-10 and 0-4 in the Valley.
Marshfield did most of its damage early, jumping out to a 22-3 lead after the first quarter.
Eleni Seitz added 12 points and eight rebounds and Tiffany Stargardt came off the bench to score eight points and grab seven rebounds for the Tigers.
Marshfield plays a nonconference game at Tomah on Tuesday and hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Friday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game begins at 6:15 p.m. with the boys to follow at 8 p.m. at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.
