MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls soccer team won its second game in a row, downing Stevens Point 3-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match Wednesday night at Heiting Community Stadium at Marshfield High School.
Hayden Berger scored on a bending corner kick in the 12th minute and Grace Taylor scored off an assist from Abby Ongna at the 29:03 mark to give Marshfield (5-7-2, 2-2-1 WVC) a 2-0 lead before halftime.
After Stevens Point (8-6-1, 3-3 WVC) scored 2:48 into the second half, Berger knocked in a penalty kick less than one minute later to provide the Tigers with an insurance goal. Neither team scored the rest of the way.
