STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield baseball team had undefeated Stevens Point on the ropes, but the Panthers rallied late to tie the game and won it with a run in the eighth inning 4-3 on Thursday at Bukolt Park.
Chase Robinson hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth to give Marshfield a 3-1 lead before Stevens Point answered with two runs in the sixth on RBI singles by Jacob Garth and Braylen Nystrom.
The score held until the eighth when Noah Marschke smacked a double to center to score Garth and propel the Panthers to their 19th-straight win.
Caleb Schaefer and Robinson both finished with two hits for Marshfield (3-11, 3-5 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Nystrom and Garth each had two hits for Stevens Point (19-0, 9-0 WVC).
Marshfield will play Holmen and Waunakee at a triangular on Saturday at Holmen Middle School beginning at 10 a.m.
