Stratford wins 11 events, takes both team titles at 2024 Marawood Conference Track Meet

ABBOTSFORD – Stratford won 11 events and both team titles at the 2024 Marawood Conference Track & Field Meet on Monday at Abbotsford High School.

The Stratford girls finished with three wins and 95 points, just two points better than Marathon. Auburndale tied for ninth with 39 points.

The Stratford boys won eight conference titles, with a pair of triple-winners in Coltan Breit and Jett Schoenherr, and finished with 173 points. Marathon was a distant second with 119.5 points and Auburndale took five with 48.5 points.

Breit won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 1½ inches, and was part of two winning relay teams for the Stratford boys. He teamed with Payton Glenn, Ausitn O’Neill and Zander Zawislan to take the 800-meter relay in 1:32.22, and ran with Glenn, Zawislan and Schoenherr to win the 400 relay in 43.34 seconds.

Schoenherr also won the 100 meters in 11.12 seconds and the 200 in 22.42 to help propel Stratford to the boys team title.

Cree DeFoe won the 3,200 (10:24.36), Koehler Kilty was first in the shot put (49-10½), and the 3,200 relay team of Ethan Heeg, Derek Wiese, Reid Miller and Garrett Zuelke also won in 8:46.55 for the Stratford boys.

Earning titles for the Stratford girls were Brianna Sherden in the long jump (17-7½), Dawnyel Martin in the 300 hurdles (50.56), and the 400 relay team of Sadie Weigel, Martin, Hailey Fecker and Sherden (51.48).

Auburndale had one victory, that coming in the girls 1,600-meter relay as the team of Gracie Hasenohrl, Rose Hasenohrl, Alana Steines and Alivia Wolf won in 4:21.02.

Stratford and Auburndale will both compete in a WIAA Division 3 regional at Marathon on Monday, May 20.
