STRATFORD – The Stratford softball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with its ninth-straight win, a 4-1 nonconference victory over Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday at Hilgemann Field.

Laney Pankratz tossed a complete game for the Tigers (18-6), allowing just four hits and one run while striking out three.

Akosua Yeboah also went the distance for Columbus Catholic (16-6), giving up just three hits.

The game was 1-1 after Mattea Schlafke had an RBI single in the top of the sixth for the Dons.

Stratford responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Back-to-back walks and two wild pitches pushed across the go-ahead run for the Tigers. Tria Tubbs followed with an RBI double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Gracie Schmidt, making it 4-1.

Pankratz set the Dons down in order in the seventh to finish off the victory.

Both teams will open postseason play Tuesday with regional semifinals. Columbus Catholic will host Pittsville and Stratford will be at home against Spencer.
