Stratford girls basketball snaps 3-game losing streak with win over Iola-Scandinavia

STRATFORD – The Stratford girls basketball team ended a three-game losing streak with a 39-20 nonconference win over Iola-Scandinavia on Monday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford outscored the Thunderbirds (1-10) 11-0 in the first quarter and led 23-3 at halftime as it dominated throughout.

Haley Austin had 14 points, Carrie Stroetz added six points and nine rebounds, and Jenessa Denfeld added six points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, who improve to 4-7 after losing seven of their last eight games.

Stratford plays at Auburndale on Thursday.
