WITTENBERG – The Auburndale softball team closed out the regular season with its ninth-straight win, a 7-2 victory over Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Thursday at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.
Danika Blomberg hit a two-run home run in the first inning, Mya Krings added four hits, including a two-run homer in the fourth, and Sammy Stanton also had two hits and two RBI to pace the Eagles’ offense.
Morgan Griesbach went the distance on the mound for Auburndale (17-3), striking out 13 with two walks and three hits allowed.
Auburndale will host a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal against Necedah on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Necedah defeated Montello 16-14 in a regional quarterfinal on Thursday.
