Wittenberg-Birnamwood rallies from six-run deficit to defeat Spencer baseball

WITTENBERG – Wittenberg-Birnamwood scored four times in the bottom of seventh inning to rally past Spencer 8-7 in a nonconference baseball game on Monday at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.

Carter Luepke had a double and drove in three runs for Spencer, which led 6-0 after 2½ innings before the Chargers (17-6) stormed back.

Four errors in the seventh inning, including three in a row, led to the four-run inning for Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Spencer finishes its regular season with a 6-14 record. The Rockets will play a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal at Crandon on Thursday at 5 p.m.
