WESTON – Marshfield will have a strong contingent competing for state meet berths after numerous top-four finishes at the WIAA Division 1 Track & Field Regional on Monday at Stiehm Stadium at D.C. Everest Junior High.
The Marshfield girls won three regional titles and 14 sectional qualifiers, while the boys team had seven top-four finishes.
The top four in each event move on to a D-1 sectional at Hudson on Thursday, with the top three in each event there moving on to the 2024 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on May 31-June 1.
Earning regional titles for the Marshfield girls were Emma Ridgway in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches, Devyn LeMoine in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet, and Olivia Page in the 200 meters in 26.82 seconds.
Gracie Ridgeway finished second in the high jump (5-2), Ashley Grancorvitz was runner-up in the triple jump (33-10¼) and Ryann Kilty took second in the 200 behind Page, finishing in 27.89 for the Tigers.
Marshfield also had two relay teams place second – the 800-meter team of Emma Ridgway, Gracie Ridgway, Kilty and Page (1:46.56), and the 400 team of LeMoine, Emma Ridgway, Gracie Ridgway and Page (49.96) – and the 1,600 team of Natalie Scharenbroch, Lily Adler, McKenzie Holm and Ella Allar placed third in 4:12.30. The 400 team’s mark is a new school record.
Other sectional qualifiers for the Marshfield girls were Allar (third, 300 hurdles), Holm (third, 800), Adeline Lonsdale (fourth, 800), Hannah Ridgway (fourth, long jump) and Alyssa Foemmel (fourth, 100).
Moving on for the Marshfield boys are Ethan Knecht in the shot put (second, 51-11.5) and the discus (third, 149-7), Dirk Vanderwyst in the high jump (second, 5-6), J.J. Steinbach in the high jump (5-4), Monty Woltmann in the triple jump (third, 41-8.25), the 800 relay team of Jackson Anderson, Kaleb Neuenfeldt, Dillon McHugh and Trey Parr (1:34.09), and the 3,200 relay team of Thomas Cashmer, Owen Hoerneman, Elijah Bremer and Kashton Kilty (8:25.90).
