Stratford baseball slams Laona/Wabeno in regular-season finale

STRATFORD – The Stratford baseball team finished off its regular season with a 20-1 rout of Laona/Wabeno in a nonconference matchup Thursday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

The Tigers scored eight times in the first inning and added seven more in the second as they rolled to the win, finishing the regular season with an 18-5 record.

Brady Berg hit a grand slam in the second inning, Landon Zawislan also drove in four runs, and Vance Kielman scored four times for Stratford.

Henry Zaleski picked up the pitching win, throwing three shutout innings in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out seven.

Stratford will open postseason play at home against Crandon in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal Tuesday at 5 p.m.
