MARATHON – Columbus Catholic senior Charlie Moore shot an 81 to win the individual title and help the Dons to a third-place finish at a WIAA Division 3 Boys Golf Regional on Thursday at Pine Valley Golf Course.
Marathon won the team title with a score of 343, with Wausau Newman Catholic taking second with a 363 and Columbus Catholic finishing third with a 366. Manawa snagged the final team sectional berth, taking fourth with a 391.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on those teams qualify for a D-3 sectional at McCauslin Brook Golf Club in Wabeno. The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams will earn berths for the 2024 WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament at the Meadows at Blackwolf Run in Kohler on June 3-4.
Moore defeated Dakota Stroud of Manawa by one stroke to earn the individual regional title to lead the Dons. Kohle Hilgemann shot an 88, Kaleb Hilgemann had a 93 and Keller Bredemann had a 104 to round out Columbus Catholic’s scoring.
