RHINELANDER – Tylan Schreiner and Brennan Smith scored goals in the first period and the lead held up as the Marshfield boys hockey team won its second straight game, beating Rhinelander 2-0 in a nonconference game Tuesday night.

Schreiner scored unassisted just 1:07 into the game to give the Tigers an early lead.

Smith scored 4:40 later, off assists from Bobby Leggon and Bo Howard, to put Marshfield (5-8) up 2-0.

Marshfield’s defense and goalie Mac Alboreo did the rest. Alboreo, a freshman, stopped 19 shots to pitch his first career shutout.

Marshfield plays two more nonconference games this week – at home against Tomahawk at Thursday and at Chequamegon on Saturday.
