Co-champion Stratford had three first-team selections and Auburndale added two to the 2024 All-Marawood Conference South Division Baseball Team, as voted on by the five conference coaches following the season.
Stratford senior pitcher Brady Schmidt, junior infielder Jack Tubbs and sophomore catcher Brady Berg were among the 10 first-team picks after they helped lead the Tigers to a share of the Marawood South title with Marathon with a 7-1 record.
Auburndale senior pitcher Aden Cherney and junior pitcher/infielder Blake Raab were also first-team selections.
Schmidt had a strong season on the mound for the Tigers, going 7-1 with a 0.71 earned-run average and 55 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. He also hit .220 with 14 RBI.
Berg was Stratford’s top hitter, batting .424 with 21 runs scored and 32 RBI. As a pitcher, Berg allowed seven runs, but no earned runs, in 18 1/3 innings with 23 strikeouts.
Tubbs hit .342 with 28 runs scored and 22 RBI for Stratford.
Cherney led Auburndale at the plate and on the mound, batting .421 with 26 runs scored and nine RBI, while going 6-3 as a pitcher with 1.49 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings.
Rabb hit .300 with 23 runs and a team-high 11 stolen bases. As a pitcher, he went 4-3 with 42 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings.
Marathon’s Grant Warren, Tyler Underwood and Blake Underwood, and Edgar’s Jase Apfelbeck and Leyton Schuett, round out the first-team picks. All 10 players on the first team were unanimous selections.
Tyler Underwood of Marathon was named Marawood South Player of the Year as he hit .415 with 28 runs scored and 16 RBI, and also went 8-0 with a 1.92 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings pitched.
Auburndale’s Kaden Anderson, Peyton Weinfurter and Caden Weinfurter, and Stratford’s Henry Zaleski, Vance Kielman and Riley Spindler were among the second-team honorees.
Marathon’s Steve Warren and Stratford’s Marshall Lehman were named Co-Coaches of the Year.
