MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team used an eight-run second inning to blow past Merrill and won 16-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference game Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.

The Blue Devils (6-5, 3-2 WVLC) added seven more runs in the fourth and finished off the game via the 10-run rule after 4½ innings.

Tyler Kremer struck out eight without a walk over three innings and Ben Sommers finished off the win with two innings on the mound for Marshfield.

Marshfield finished with 14 hits, including three by Tyler Kumm and Josh Taylor. Both also had two RBI, as did Jace Frick, in the victory.

Marshfield will play at the Antigo Tournament this Friday through Sunday, taking on Germantown in its opening game Friday at 5:30 p.m.
