STRATFORD – Edgar broke open a tie game with a five-run sixth inning, then held off a Stratford rally to win 7-6 in American Legion baseball action Thursday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

The game was tied 2-2 before Edgar erupted for the big inning in the sixth to chase Stratford starter Henry Zaleski and take a 7-2 lead.

Stratford responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, which was finished off by a two-run single from Landon Zawislan, but Stratford could not push across the tying run, leaving a runner stranded on second to end both the sixth and seventh innings.

Zaleski, Jaeger Ormond and Drew Gage each had two hits for Stratford (4-3).

Stratford is back in action Monday with a doubleheader at Marathon beginning at 6 p.m.
