PLOVER – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Monday, losing to Plover 8-3 and 15-14 at Memorial Field.
Plover scored four times in the second and third innings to take control of the opener.
Jace Frick drove in a pair of runs, and Josh Taylor and Tyler Kremer each had two hits for Marshfield in the loss.
In Game 2, Plover scored in each inning, earning a walk-off win after Marshfield rallied.
The Black Sox took a 6-0 lead and led 12-6 after five innings before Marshfield put up five runs in the sixth to sneak within a run.
After Plover scored in the bottom of the sixth, Marshfield put up three runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead.
Kremer had an RBI single and scored on a single by Easton Ledden, and Bryce Schade knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly to give the Blue Devils (9-8) a 14-13 lead.
Plover, however, took advantage of two walks, an error and two singles – the last by Sully Schober – to score twice and earn the walk-off win.
The two teams are scheduled to play again Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield for another doubleheader. Game time is 5:30 p.m., weather permitting.
