MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Senior Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader over Chippewa Falls on Sunday afternoon at Jack Hackman Field, winning 6-5 and 6-3.
Marshfield rallied from a 5-0 deficit to score six unanswered runs to take Game 1.
Chippewa Falls scored five times in the top of the second before the Blue Devils started to chip away.
Emmitt Konieczny had a two-run single in the bottom of the third to get Marshfield on the board, and the Blue Devils rallied to take the lead in the fourth.
Aden Cherney had an RBI single, and Chase Robinson singled to score one, and another came in on an error on the throw home, to tie the game at 5-5. Cain Toufar singled later in the inning to knock in what proved to be the game-winner.
Cherney went five innings to earn the win and Toufar picked up the save with two scoreless innings of relief. Robinson finished with three hits, while Konieczny, Blake Raab and Jakob Sadowska each had two singles as Marshfield finished with 13 hits overall.
In Game 2, Marshfield jumped on Chippewa Falls (9-11) early, scoring three times in the first inning and added two more in the second to take control.
Bryce Erickson had two RBI and Adam Gilbertson had two of Marshfield’s five hits in the win.
Zander Edmundson allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings to earn the win and Nathan Richadson grabbed the save with 2 2/3 innings of perfect relief.
Marshfield (10-11) has won five of its last six games heading into a pair of Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference road games Monday at Plover and Tuesday at Wisconsin Rapids. Post 54’s next home game is Thursday against Wausau at 8 p.m.
