Marshfield Junior Legion baseball wins slugfest over Merrill

MERRILL – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team scored nine over the final four innings to pull past Merrill 12-8 on Tuesday night in its regular-season finale.

Brennen Welch and Kallen Steinbach each drove in three runs for Marshfield, which improves to 14-11 this season.

Easton Ledden picked up the pitching win, striking out four while allowing three runs in four innings for the Blue Devils.

Marshfield will take on Wausau at the 17U regional at Iola on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. The double-elimination tournament continues through Monday, with the winner qualifying for the 17U Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Tournament at Kimberly on July 26-30.
