OSSEO – Brady Schmidt and Henry Zaleski combined on a two-hit shutout as Stratford blanked Baldwin 5-0 in a first-round game at the 2024 Wisconsin Class A American Legion Baseball State Tournament on Friday at Merchants Park.

Schmidt allowed two hits in 5 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts, and Zaleski finished up by gaining the final four outs in order.

Stratford started strong with the first three batters reaching base to load them up and Vance Kielman smacked a one-out double to score Riley Spindler and Jack Tubbs. Brady Berg also came in on an error on the play to put Stratford up 3-0.

Stratford added two more in the second. With two outs, Riley Spindler walked, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Jack Tubbs. Tubbs took second on an error, one of four by Baldwin, and scored on a single by Berg.

That would be it for the scoring as the Stratford pitchers shutdown Baldwin.

Stratford (14-7) moves on a winners’ bracket game against Lomira at 4 p.m. Saturday.
