HORTONVILLE – Hortonville scored two goals late in the second half to pull out a 3-1 win over Marshfield in the boys soccer opener for both teams on Tuesday at Hortonville High School.

Hortonville scored just 4:30 into the game and the 1-0 advantage held into the second half.

Cash Frey tied the game 6:05 into the second half for Marshfield off an assist by Keegan Fredrick, but the Tigers would be shutout the rest of the way.

Hortonville scored twice in the 66th and 74th minutes to pull away.

β€œIt was a good learning experience and gives us a good base line to build on for the upcoming season,” Marshfield coach Jeff Molter said.

Marshfield will play another road nonconference game Thursday at Pulaski.
