WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls golf team won the first leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament series on Wednesday, shooting a 190 at Trapp River Golf Course.

The Tigers won the team title by nine shots over Wisconsin Rapids. Wausau East/West was third with a 207, one shot better than D.C. Everest.

All five Marshfield golfers placed in the top 10 as Brielle Lenz and McKenzie Holm tied for third with 45s. Kylie Laufenberg added a 49 to finish sixth, and Lauren Boon and Lexxi Oertel each shot 51 to finish in a four-way tie for seventh.

Talia Schlindwein of Wausau East/West won medalist honors with a 41, three shots better than Wisconsin Rapids’ Ava Fetterer.

Marshfield will compete at the Adams-Friendship Invitational at Northern Bay Golf Club in Arkdale on Thursday.
