Stratford volleyball finishes fifth at Onalaska Sprawl

ONALASKA – The Stratford volleyball team began its 2024 season with a 5-2 record and fifth-place finish at the Onalaska Sprawl on Wednesday and Thursday at the Omni Center.

Stratford went 3-1 in pool play on Wednesday, defeating Ladysmith 25-14, 25-14; Iowa-Grant 25-10, 25-18; and Arcadia 25-12, 25-10; and losing to La Crosse Central 22-25, 25-20, 15-10.

On Thursday, Stratford defeated Mineral Point 25-20, 22-25, 15-10, and Richland Center 19-25, 25-20, 15-7, and lost to Fall Creek 20-25, 25-19, 15-11 to finish five at the 24-team tournament.

In seven matches, Kalyn Schueller had 72 kills and 74 digs to lead the Tigers in both categories. McKenzie Novotny added 43 kills and 23 service aces, Daisy Yoder had 38 kills, 22 aces and 20 digs, Emerson Roy had 97 assists and 25 digs, and Laney Pankratz had 76 assists for Stratford.

Stratford will compete at the Marathon Invitational on Saturday.
