Stratford wins four of five, Spencer goes 1-4 at Marathon Early Bird Girls Volleyball Invite

MARATHON – Stratford went 4-1 to finish third and Spencer won one of five matches as the two teams competed at the Marathon Early Bird Invitational on Saturday at Marathon High School.

Stratford defeated Fall Creek twice, winning 25-20, 25-19, and 25-10, 25-17, topped Spencer 25-12, 25-7, and Rib Lake 25-16, 25-15, while suffering a 25-20, 11-25, 15-9 loss to Phillips.

Kalyn Schueller had 42 kills, 12 service aces and 18 digs, Carly Panraktz led the Stratford defense with 19 digs, Daisy Yoder chipped in 23 kills, and Emerson Roy had 46 assists and 10 aces for the Tigers.

In addition to the match against Stratford, Spencer lost to Rib Lake twice, 25-12, 22-25, 15-5, and 25-22, 25-20, and Fall Creek 25-19, 25-17. The Rockets’ lone win came against Thorp as they swept the Cardinals 25-14, 25-12.

Ema Schultz had 24 kills, Carmen Krause added 22 kills and four aces, Hallie Meyer had 40 assists, and Alexa Stange had a team-high 61 digs for the Rockets.

Both teams will play nonconference matches on Tuesday as Spencer travels to Pittsville and Stratford hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
