EAU CLAIRE – Despite a large shot advantage and numerous scoring opportunities, the Marshfield boys soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie in a nonconference match Tuesday at Eau Claire North High School.

North scored just 27 seconds into the game and the Huskies’ lead held until late in the second half.

After North (1-1-1) goalkeeper Marcus Epps saved a penalty kick from Marshfield’s Matthew Uphoff in the 66th minute, the Tigers were finally able to crack the scoring column.

Aaron Ongna took a pass from Uphoff in the 68th minute and scored for the Tigers to tie the game at 1-1.

Marshfield, which finished with a 21-6 shot advantage, controlled the majority of play the rest of the way, coach Jeff Molter said, but the Tigers could not muster another goal.

Alex Pfeifer finished with four saves in goal for the Tigers.

Marshfield (0-1-2) will open its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at 7 p.m.
