Stratford boys finish second, girls third at Mosinee Cross Country Invitational

RIB MOUNTAIN – The Stratford boys finished second and the girls team placed third at the Mosinee Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Nine Mile Recreation Area.

Lakeland won the boys title with 49 points, just ahead of Stratford (64). In the girls standings, Rhinelander was the team champion with 63 points, Medford finished second with 70 and Stratford was third with 76.

Spencer had incomplete teams and did not factor in the team standings.

Taylor Karcz of Crandon won the boys race in 16:07, 18 seconds ahead of Stratford’s Cree DeFoe.

Ethan Heeg finished sixth in 17:09 and Derek Wiese was 13th in 18:23 as well for the Tigers.

Spencer’s Camdyn Vogel was 63rd in 21:20.

Stratford’s top girl runner was Kayla Casperson, who placed fifth in 20:18.

Crandon’s Addison May won the girls race in 19:31, 17 seconds in front of Medford’s Lindsay Kahn.

Breleigh Skaya added a top-10 finish for the Stratford girls, taking eighth in 21:14.

Kaydence Plaskey placed 60th in 27:22 for Spencer.

Stratford and Spencer will both be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Marshfield Tiger Invitational at Wildwood Park.
