RIB MOUNTAIN – The Marshfield girls won the team title and the boys finished third at the Marathon Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Nine Mile Recreation Area.
Marshfield finished with 55 points in the girls team standings, outpacing Wittenberg-Birnamwood (79) and Tomahawk (89) for the title. Auburndale was fourth with 93 points.
D.C. Everest won the boys standings with 39 points, with Rib Lake/Prentice second with 55, and Marshfield third with 90. Auburndale did not have a complete team.
Natalie Scharenbroch finished third to lead the Marshfield girls, running in 19:52 as she finished less than one second behind runner-up Rory Salvesen of Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Waupaca’s Sienna Timm won the girls race in 19:18.
Auburndale’s Rose Hasenohrl placed fourth in 20:05, with Luise Meyer taking 14th in 21:19.
Natalie Schmitt took 13th in 21:10 as well for the Tigers.
Owen Lencki of Waupaca won the boys race in 15:51, five seconds ahead of Three Lakes/Phelps’ Nolan Waltz.
Owen Hoerneman took fifth in 16:21 to lead Marshfield, with teammate Lincoln Berger adding a 10th-place finish in 17:09.
Brody Braunsky was 56th for Auburndale in 19:43.
Marshfield will host its annual Marshfield Tiger Invitational on Tuesday at Wildwood Park.
