WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Keegan Fredrick’s goal midway through the second half salvaged a 3-3 tie for the Marshfield boys soccer team in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Thursday night against Wisconsin Rapids at Lincoln High School.

Eli Bremer scored in the 10th minute and Landon Lee had goals in the first half for the Tigers, who took a 2-1 lead into the break. Fredrick and Matthew Uphoff assisted on the goals.

Wisconsin Rapids surged ahead with two goals in the first 23 minutes of the second half, before Fredrick launched a 30-yard bolt that evaded the Raiders’ goalkeeper to tie the game. Joey Ketterer assisted on the goal for Marshfield.

Neither team scored over the final 16½ minutes and Marshfield (0-1-3) had to settle for its third tie contest in four games this fall.

Marshfield will play its home opener Tuesday against Chippewa Falls at 7 p.m.
