MARSHFIELD – Marshfield’s Natalie Scharenbroch and Columbus Catholic’s Issac Scheer won individual titles at the annual Marshfield Tiger Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Wildwood Park.
Scharenbroch improved on her eighth-place finish a year ago to win the girls race in 20:17, 21 seconds ahead of Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Rory Salvesen, who placed second for the second-straight year. Stratford’s Kayla Casperson was third in 20:43.
Marshfield won the girls team title as well, finishing with 67 points, with Wittenberg-Birnamwood second with 90. Auburndale placed sixth with 144 points, Stratford was eighth with 191, and Marshfield Columbus Catholic and Spencer did not have complete teams.
Abby Wojcik placed 10th for the Columbus Catholic girls in 21:28.
Adeline Lonsdale finished 11th (21:29) and Natalie Schmitt took 12th (21:31) to help pace the Marshfield girls to the team win.
Scheer, who took third at the invite in 2021 and second a year ago, captured the boys individual title, running the 5-kilometer race in 16:29, 14 seconds in front of Stevens Point Pacelli’s Luke Eiden.
Stratford’s Cree DeFoe took third in 16:51 to help the Tigers to the boys team title as they finished with 78 points. Wisconsin Rapids was the runner-up with 85 points, with Marshfield third with 99, and Columbus Catholic eighth with 194. Spencer and Auburndale did not have complete teams.
Owen Hoerneman, who finished eighth in 2023, placed fifth in 17:06 to lead the Marshfield boys.
Nathan Scheer added an eighth-place finish for Columbus Cahtolic (17:22) and Garrett Zuelke took 10th (17:52) for the Stratford boys.
