Stratford volleyball downs Newman Catholic in Marawood South opener

WAUSAU – The Stratford volleyball team rallied after dropping the opening set and defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 3-1 in the first Marawood Conference South Division match of the season on Tuesdy at Newman Catholic High School.

The Tigers won 19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-19.

Stratford finished with 29 kills, nine from senior Kalyn Schueller. She also tied Carly Pankratz for the team lead in defensive digs with 13.

Emerson Roy finished with 16 assists and 10 digs, and McKenzie Novotny and Daisy Yoder each had six kills for Stratford.

Stratford will compete at the Auburndale Invitational on Saturday.
