AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale football team rebounded after suffering its first loss of the season, racking up 373 yards of offense and rolling to a 42-22 win over Pittsville in a Central Wisconsin Conference Small Division game Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Colton Weiler ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns, and Nathan Van Wyhe tacked on three TDs for the Eagles, who are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the CWC Small.
Van Wyhe scored the first three touchdowns for the Eagles as they built a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter and they took a 21-6 lead into halftime.
Weiler and quarterback Blake Raab added in the third to up Auburndale’s lead to 35-14 before Weiler capped the Eagles’ scoring with a 21-yard touchdown run.
Peyton Weinfurter had two interceptions and Van Whye added another as the Eagles’ defense did their part.
Auburndale will travel to Rosholt (1-3, 0-2 CWC Small) next Friday, Sept. 20.
