WEYAUWEGA – Weyauwega-Fremont scored 24 unanswered points over the second and third quarters to pull past Spencer/Columbus Catholic 38-21 in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football game Friday night at Weyauwega-Fremont High School.
Jack Hoeper tied the game at 7-7 for the Rockets (1-3, 0-2 CWC Large) with a 3-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, but Weyauwega-Fremont (2-2, 1-1 CWC Large) was able to respond with 10 points before halftime.
Two touchdown runs by quarterback Kameron Zielke in the third quarter upped the Warhawks’ lead to 31-7.
Hoeper added a 1-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter and Mac Konieczny caught a 4-yard TD pass from Devlin Timmler in the fourth, but the Rockets would not get closer than 10 and the Warhawks tacked on a late score to finish off the win.
Hoeper continued his strong season for the Rockets, running for 132 yards and the two scores.
Spencer/Columbus will hit the road again next Friday, Sept. 20, to take on Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
