STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield girls had three top-20 finishes as placed sixth at the SPASH Panther Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Standing Rock Park.
Appleton North won the girls team title with 44 points as it had three of the top-five finishers, including overall winner Eva Busch (19:29.7). Marshfield was sixth with 143 points and Auburndale 10th with 261.
Stevens Point won the boys team title with 25 points as Ethan Olds won the boys race for the Panthers in 19:29.7. Marshfield took seventh with 182 points and Auburndale had just four runners and did not have a complete team.
Marshfield’s Natalie Scharenbroch finished ninth in 20:44.9, Adeline Lonsdale was 18th in 21:34.5 and Natalie Schmitt placed 19th in 21:39.6 to lead the Tigers girls.
Rose Hasenohrl took 16th in 21:31.4 as the Auburndale girls’ top runner.
Owen Hoerneman placed 11th in 17:05.5 and Lincoln Berger took 23rd in 18:00 for the Marshfield boys.
The Auburndale boys top finisher was Jaxon Grube, who took 70th in 20:43.8.
Both Marshfield and Auburndale are back in action Saturday, Sept. 21, at the annual Smiley Invitational at Wausau East High School.
