COLBY – Columbus Catholic senior Isaac Scheer continued his strong start to the 2024 season with a victory at the Colby/Abbotsford Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Colby High School.
Scheer won the boys 5-kilometer race in 16:31.1, more than half a minute ahead of Owen-Withee’s Colton Paczkowski.
Nathan Scheer added a fourth-place finish in 17:38.7 and Roman Ostermann took 13th in 19:26.7 as well for the Dons, who placed second behind team champion Bonduel.
Spencer’s top boys runner was Camdyn Vogel, who took 39th in 21:45.8.
Medford won the girls team title with Bonduel second. Columbus Catholic and Spencer did not have complete teams, nor did the Spencer boys.
Abby Wojcik finished eighth in 21:52.1 and Abigail Schuld placed 15th in 23:25.2 for the Dons girls.
Tahneya Anderson was 44th for the Spencer girls in 28:52.0.
Columbus Catholic returns to action Tuesday at the Neillsville Invitational. Spencer is off until its home invitational on Sept. 24.
