Marshfield girls swimming wins eight events, defeats Wausau East

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield won eight of 11 races and earned its first Wisconsin Valley Conference girls swimming dual meet victory of the season with an 88-82 win over Wausau East on Tuesday at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield started off the meet with a victory from its 200-yard medley relay team of Hannah LaPointe, Brooke Begotka, Terra Risa and Shiloh Smith in 2:02.18.

Risa added wins in the 200 individual medley (2:23.94) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.66), Smith won the 50 freestyle (27.16 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.62), and Begotka won the 100 breaststroke (1:16.19), and Smith, Keira Raab, Risa and Begotka teamed to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.22 as well for the Tigers (1-1 WVC).

Marshfield will compete at the Chippewa Falls Invitational on Saturday.
